I started learning about Search Engine Optimization, SEO, 4 years ago when I wanted to make more money from my Survivor TV Show fan site at www.survivor.com. It was languishing at the bottom on the second page of the search engine pages. I needed more traffic. It makes money from advertising. More traffic means more money. I started doing research about SEO and applying what I learned to the site.

It took about 2 years, but I made it to the top, behind only the official CBS corporate site. I beat out all other fan sites and even Wikipedia. Wikipedia is very difficult to beat because of their huge number of pages and links, but my site ranks higher for the term “survivor.” I’m proud of the progress I made and the lessons I learned. Today, I make enough money from that one site now to pay my mortgage.
